THE PROJECT

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE IN A PRIVILEGED LOCATION

When we arrived in Comporta, we wondered how it was possible that such a paradise was so close and hidden, and yet so well preserved. Its unique environment, nature, beaches, gastronomy create an experience of absolute tranquillity. But it is the local people who make it even more special by welcoming us to be part of their big family.

We decided to create Cabana Lavanda as a meeting place, in which to enjoy this wonderful environment with all the comforts of a quality domestic space, respecting the traditional construction of the old fishermen’s huts and the traditional colors of the area combining white lime and exposed wood, in a privileged location with access on foot to both population centers and natural environments, rice fields or beaches.

The project consists of 3 cabins (one of them still under construction) in a unique location, surrounded by nature and with maximum respect for the vegetation that was found there and integrating the house into the natural area and the topography. The main cabin has space for 10 people and about 400 square meters divided into two floors and a secondary cabin to support the pool. The infinity pool has been designed with a special boomerang shape and 18 meters in length in its longest arm to respect the pine forest as much as possible, which allows all constructions to enjoy ample privacy surrounded by trees and extraordinary views. Two porches and a viewing terrace complete the resort, taking care of every little detail.

The large infinity pool reflects the blue-green of the sea with a special coating that causes a color change depending on the intensity of the light and that transfers the atmosphere of the Atlantic to the interior of the house.

LIGHT & NATURE

The project was designed based on two fundamental aspects, simplicity and elegance, while the cabins should take advantage of the spectacular views of nature and the special light of the place, therefore about 50% of the construction is glass, large windows working with the scale of the volumes and the materials so that the environment is present without losing the warmth of the home. Enjoying the environment has been one of the main objectives, as well as adapting to the rhythm of life in the area and disconnecting from the routine.

Energy efficiency has also been a prominent aspect, which is why the use of special insulation was planned for both walls and windows and heat generation systems based on sustainable energy.

Beach & Art

We consider art as a way of living and learning, understanding art from a restored piece from a local antiquarian to a sculpture or painting by a renowned artist passing through an imposing centenary olive tree or an elegant carpentry. All of this is present in Cabana Lavanda, which brings us to the spectacular synergy of beach and art. The pieces fit perfectly with an exquisite and refined decoration that combines simplicity and discreet luxury, recognized by professionals in the sector in various articles in renowned publications.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA

The garden has been meticulously designed to preserve the native species, more than 10 types of lavender, and another 50 local species in addition to fourteen hundred-year-old olive trees. All this on a field of white sand that turns the space into a unique atmosphere causing a set of sensations both visually, acoustically and olfactory that leaves no one indifferent.

It was decided to create two large semi-covered terraces with a wooden pergola that would allow both the enjoyment of the porch and garden area, as well as its integration with the main living room, the view of the rice fields and protection against direct sunlight.
